I am a special education teacher and have worked with many students with ADD/ADHD. From my experience, I have realized that students learn faster and retain the information they learned longer if a tactile, hands-on approach is used. Currently, I teach K-5 students, and no matter what I'm teaching, I try to turn it into an educational game where the students are up and moving and having fun while learning. Each one exceeded my expectations and learned far more than anyone could have imagined. I truly believe in finding the style of learning that suits each student, and pursuing that particular route. I worked in the finance field at the Chicago Board of Trade while speaking Japanese for many years ( I can also read and write Hiragana and Katakana.) At some point later in life, I decided on a career change and got my degree in special education. I am currently a Special Education student at Northern Illinois University. I at the beginning of the education program and think this would an excellent chance to start teaching. I have a vast background in science, being that my first major was biology. I think I can provide exceptional one on one tutoring for a student of any age. Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age.
