Teaching is something that has always come natural to me. Whether its giving golf lessons out at the local country club, or teaching my younger siblings math and chemistry. In 12 years as a high school teaching assistant, I have worked primarily with individual students in a wide range of subjects ranging from art, literature and history, to science and mathematics. For subjects like math, it is simple to develop a step by step method for the students to write down and follow. Once the students have mastered the steps they are motivated to continue with the material because it seems straightforward. It is also important to have the students connect to the material; if they understand how the information is used in every day life then they will become more excited and motivated to learn.
