Psychology Professor/Reading Specialist

I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.
I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.

I always look forward to tutoring new people becuase I not only get to make a difference in their life by helping them master what they're struggling with, but I also get to learn about people and different learning styles. This covered non-biological sciences and mathematics, as well as conversational Spanish and English literary composition up to the sophomore college level, Over the last five years, though the three years of my undergraduate education were the most busy, both peers and high school students took advantage of my services.
Post-pubescent persons have a great capacity to learn abstract material; all that is necessary to open that potential is to motivate them. I do not specialize in that motivation. I do, however, excel at taking a puzzled student and explaining the difficult material in a way that makes sense to him or her.
