American Sign Language has been a profound influence in my life. It began as a sophomore in high school, for my junior and senior year my teacher was deaf. My skills improved rapidly when I was called to serve for two years in the deaf community in CA. Just prior I was called to learn this subject and a language learning institute for ten weeks. In the city of Fremont CA was the deaf institute where I labored for nearly two years. Due to its reputation and richness in deaf culture students from all over the world attended this school. I recently graduated from the Evergreen State College with a degree in mathematics. My other fields of study included chemistry, computer science, and physics. I have numerous hours of laboratory experience to support my in class and text book understanding of the materials covered.
