I have spent thirty-five years in the field of education. During my college years I worked in the early childhood field and I worked as a private tutor as a means of supporting my education. Since that time I have worked in public schools, religious organizations, private educational facilities, and non-profit organizations partnering with public schools. The past thirteen years my work has primarily been in the early childhood and elementary field, providing educational services to young children and their families. I have always been interested in science and using that science to benefit humanity. In college I pursued a bachelor degree in Biology and was president of molecular/mircobiology club and was an anatomy, organic chemistry, and physics tutor. As an undergraduate I was able to be involved in forensic DNA research. After graduating I entered medical school where I have pursued research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, and middle ear dysfunction. In medical school I tutored students in pathology and pharmacology. My passions are teaching and patient care.
I have a teaching style that is very adaptive to any individual. I am very patient and understanding that multiple approachs to grasp a subject may need to happen. From there on, giving a lead for the student to follow has worked best for me. Like filling in a blank to complete a statement, this approach provides a context for the pupil to work in, a guide. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2008 and am now almost done with my Master's in Biomedical Sciences. I was a laboratory teaching assistant for two years and a math tutor in the Creighton University Math Department for 2 years. I also did some private math tutoring for the undergraduates in Calculus I as well.
I am easygoing, but enjoy challenging my students to do well. I always try to be prepared and make sure that I am familiar with the material before any tutoring sessions. I am not concerned with time and feel that if it does take longer than the hour assigned to completely help the student understand the material, then I am more than willing to put in extra time to help them.

A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
