Experienced, unconventional Latin and English teacher

Personal, humorous, and energetic. I tailor games and activities to each class and do not think teaching directly from a text inspires many to learn. Typical key elements of my courses include flexible lesson planning, personalized tests/quizzes, adding cultural content, and incorporating student ideas as much as possible.
I have over 20 years of experience working as a university instructor and private teacher for students ages 11-50. Most of my experience has been in English as a Second Language programs for community colleges and research universities, including M.I.T. and Tufts University. Latin is one of my top subjects! I have five years' experience in learning Latin. I took Latin all through High School and while at University.

I love sharing my knowledge with others, whether it's in a group or one-on-one. I make sure that my pupils can easily comprehend what is going on during the lesson. Questions are a good indicator that active comprehension is taking place, and I am there to make sure that any and all questions that are to be had will be answered. I'm not one to "spoon-feed" per se, but if specialized attention is needed on a specific topic or subject, I am there to help with any and all questions that may arise during the process.

As the son of two life-long public educators, the importance of a quality education has always a major theme in my life. Upon entering college I choose mathematics as a major due to the proficiency I have always had in the subject.
