A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in taking a casual approach in tutoring. From previous experience, I have found that many times students understand the material but tend to get flustered in a classroom environment. I provide guidance when needed, but sometimes students just need someone there to talk it out with them. If this is the case I like to ask questions until they find the answers themselves. This method not only teaches them the material, but also builds confidence because they realize they can figure out much of it themselves.
I worked for Kankakee Community College for one year as a Math and Spanish tutor in 2006 and 2007. During this year, I honed the mathematics I learned through high school as well as the four years of Spanish I had taken to that point. As an Adjunct Professor in Humanities at Prairie State College for the past 5 years, I have acquired a wide variety of teaching skills at the College Level. In addition, since my undergraduate work I have always tutored in various departments, Mathematics calculus and college algebra. French and Hebrew at the University of Chicago, and presently, private tutoring in French, and at Prairie State College, in Philosophy, Mathematics, and Humanities. A Little Bit About Me...

In May 2010, I graduated from Bradley University earning two bachelor degrees, BS in Mathematics and BS in Economics, and I graduated in the top ten percent of my class, earning Summa Cum Laude. While in college, I had the opportunity to partake in our tutoring program that our university runs. Starting as a sophomore, I had the privilege to tutor students in college algebra, calculus, statistics, high school math, and economics. I was also asked to conduct walk-in math tutoring for athletes and non-athletes. On average, I worked with students for 10 hrs/wk. In 2007-2008, I received the Tutor of the Year Award from our Center of Learning Assistance. This award was given to the tutor that received the best evaluations from their tutees.
