When a student doesn't understand a new concept, I like to go through every step of the process with them to figure out where the stumbling block is, using a variety of ways to explain the concept to assess which strategy works best for each student. Since I was in college at Eastern Oregon University I have enjoyed working with children to educate them and foster enthusiasm for the sciences, especially chemistry. As an active member of the chemistry club at EOU I volunteered in dozens of elementary chemistry demonstration in the LaGrande OR area. I also participated in summer chemistry camps during this time. After graduation I have voluteered at area high schools during national chemistry week for the local chapter of the American Chemical Society.
