A Little Bit About Me...

The thing I enjoy most about teaching is seeing a concept "click" in a child's head. I feel that this is possible with all children if the right strategy is used to teach them. Students learn in lots of different ways. I feel it would be my job as a tutor to find out what would work in each student's academic life. Whether it be a more hands-on approach, or simply reading from a book, I find what helps each child to learn most effectively. This, in turn helps them to progress in their endeavors at school.
Throughout my college experiences I was given the opportunity to teach a diverse group of learners. I feel that this has prepared me in my efforts to become a better teacher. With my experience in many classrooms, I am a firm believer that all children can learn. However, each child has different needs, and they will learn in different ways. As a teacher, I try to provide instruction in a variety of ways to accommodate to a variety of learners. Many struggling students will succeed if material is taught in a different form. Hands-on and discovery learning are both excellent ways of adapting for students. I believe the best way to teach a child is to get to know them and their interests, and provide instruction in a way that fits their needs.
I knew from a young age I wanted to be an educator, and I have taken every opportunity to help students. In high school, I volunteered in 8th grade and 1st grade classrooms.
