Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday. I also assistant coach varsity and college soccer during the spring and fall seasons.
I believe that education should present as much material to the student as possible, which includes using various textbooks, lecture, and inquiry. After that, it will be up to the student to assess and construct the information given in order to form his/her own opinion about the subject matter. True education and learning is ownership of the subject matter which comes through effort and discipline and a little bit of guidance.

All children and adolescents can successfully acquire and process new information. Many students encounter difficulty learning in a traditional school setting because the large class sizes do not afford the teacher the time to learn about each individual and attend to his or her specific needs. During my undergraduate career I discovered my passion for teaching. I also discovered that being an educator in the sciences is particularly tricky because it deals with some of the most abstract information with seemingly little real world application.
