Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. My comments on tutoring Calculus I : Having taken Calculus in high school as well as college with grades of A, I have extensive learning, training and thorough understanding of Calculus I, Calculus II and Calculus III. Similarly, I have self-taught Calculus IV as well. While I was at college, I used to help my friends with their homework, practice and concept development to perform better in their tests. I was consistently the best student. After completing Calculus sequence, I started tutoring the course to junior students at various levels. While Calculus involves a lot of limits, derivatives, integrations, functions, vectors, trigonometry and algebra, it is not limited to only those areas.

I involve students a lot during the learning period. I consistently ask them questions about the topic and let them think for a while. I give them as much information as possible so that they do not miss any information while solving problems. I make students write. That is how they learn. I consistently give students concepts and them demonstrate with sample questions.
Holding a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics, I have knowledge of both Mathematics and its application to Economics as well as other real world situations. I have also worked as a teaching assis ... read more

Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I have taught Calculus I at least 4 times and tutored numerous students over the years. My graduate study of analysis allows me to bring a great deal of geometric insight into teaching the underlying concepts differentiation and integration. I utilize on-line tutorials whenever possible in order to help students visualize the operations of differentiation and integration. I also help students develop structured study and test-taking skills that will prove useful in succeeding courses.

I have taught at three universities (The University of Michigan, Henry Ford Community College, and Lawrence Technological University) and tutored formally at two (Henry Ford Community College and Georgia Perimeter College). I have also tutored as an independent tutor, giving me a career of 18 years as an educator. I have also maintained a career as a computer software developer, doing contract work in several cities in the United States, as well as Torino, Italy, and Durban, South Africa. In addition to the courses shown in my profile, I have taught various computer programming languages, including C, FORTRAN, C++, PL/I,and COBOL.
As a teacher and tutor, I focus on developing conceptual knowledge (rather than memorization), and structured study methods, problem-solving techniques, and test-taking skills, including post-test analyses of mistakes as a learning tool. I encourage th ... read more
