I use a lot of repetition and the asking of questions to ensure that students are learning concepts. I also try to give them analogies to help them remember things. I love working with children, as the oldest in a big family, I have often served as caretaker while my father is at work. I currently have an 8 year old younger brother who I'm working with as well as one in his Sophomore year of High school. I'm helping him with algebra and pre-calc. I've tutored kids within the inner cities of Atlanta, through a program called Emory reads. As a tutor I was responsible for helping them with their homework which included all subjects. I've also served as a teacher's aid, my responsibility was to ensure that the kids paid attention and address any problems in understanding that came up during the lesson.

I have worked with students at all levels from pre-k to doctoral students and a present I tutor Master's degree students on how to write their dissertations. I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I think that with the right guidance and put in the right environment, anyone can learn. I look forward to being that "right guidance."
