I am an ESL teacher for a kindergarten in Seoul, South Korea. I have taught phonics, reading, writing, and grammar to ages 5-10. I have private tutored several students in English and have helped them with grammar, writing, sentence structure, word tense, and reading. I have experience in lesson planning and have worked with different English curriculum. I have experience with editing papers from students and peers. I have helped students brainstorm while writing papers. I have worked in different settings- from private to the classroom- and this has helped me to refine my teaching style and expand my experience in teaching English.

Each student is important!! Every student succeeds!!

I utilize elements of each of the five teaching styles; however, I prefer the I Do, We Do, You Do style of learning. I firmly believe in providing clear instruction and demonstration of each concept. Then, the student and I work together to master a concept. After that, I provide the student an opportunity to practice and demonstrate his/her mastery of the material in a variety of situations. If the student still needs help, I reteach. I believe in positive reinforcement. Every student can succeed. No one succeeds if he/she feels unimportant or unsuccessful. Attitude is as essential to success as a mastery of content.

My comments on tutoring Language Arts : GED level

Adult Education Instructor for 9 years. I have taught in community GED classes in Georgia also. My experience in Alabama has been with the penal system. This has been a rewarding place to work. We are responsible for over 100 GED's each year. In Georgia, I also taught basic computer skills. Reading was the main focus of this promgram. I taught mothers to read to their children. I also teach voice privately.
My teaching style is determined by the needs of my class. Each person learns differently. I have found that a teacher must provide visible, hands-on, lectures, and kinetic teaching styles to meet the needs of a class. At some point every student must learn to work independently.
