My degree in English is from IUPUI, where I participated in the publication of the campus literary magazine and a capstone thesis project. For the past 30 years, I have worked with special needs students. I believe that students learn at their educational level. The problem with education today, is that students are often in classrooms that stress learning at their frustration level. Many students are in general ed settings, but are forced to use materials that they do not fully understand. To be honest I have no experience in teaching outside of the college setting. The two years marked denotes my two years in upper division English classes at SVSU where student critiquing was the norm. Beyond helping my friends with their papers I took several classes on teaching and as such have academic experience, but not real world (ie K-12) experience.
