I believe learning should be fun. I also think its perfectly okay to make mistakes and know that we all do! A Little Bit About Me...

During college, I discovered how much I truly enjoyed learning, and that drove me to take every elective course I could fit into my class schedule. I hold a BA in Biology, with a minor in Spanish. I also participated extensively in the music program as a pianist, participating in recitals, accompanying soloists & groups, and teaching piano lessons.

I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn. I'm very attentive to affective factors (stress, irrelevance, animosity, etc.) that can impede learning, and I strive to provide a learning environment that will foster a love of learning and scholarship. As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. But I know that being an older sister to younger brothers and sisters while helping them with homework and watching them grow up is a type of tutoring.
