Versatile Hands-on Tutor for all Age ranges

Throughout my academic career, I have done in-class tutoring in exchange for credit. I have also helped my family members, neighbors, and friends to study, complete homework, and even do reports. My range of subjects is very versatile, anything from Oceanography, to Intercultural Communications, to Culinary Arts, and even 3D sculpture and design. Of course outside of these elective type courses, I have a 3.7 GPA in my general education, including Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. I attended a charter high school, where we took outside the box classes that met the state regulations. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught preschool,elementary and adult students for the past 8 years. As a preschool teacher, I developed my own curriculum and taught 3 year olds. I also worked for four years as a elementary teacher for Douglas County School District, in which I was responsible for organizing and following state and district K-2 curriculum. More recently, I have been employed at Family Support Council of Douglas County to teach adults in a variety of classes. I designed my own parenting and support classes for adults.

Given the right atmosphere, I honestly believe anyone can learn. Unfortunately, many individuals are given labels, especially regarding their learning capacity, and once that belief system is in place, the expectations are often lowered and self-esteem suffers. When I was working as a secretary I knew I wanted to further my education. I returned to school and completed my bachelor of science in education. As a classroom teacher I realized the many problems my students had to deal with. This prompted my to complete my master in school counseling. I have attended several workshops throughout my career to enchance my teaching and counseling methods with Reading, Writing and Grammar for students of any age.
I love working with students. As a teacher I enjoy the learning process and love watching the students discover new concepts and ideas. As as school counsleor I assisted students in working at their emotional and challenging behaviors. In both positions I strongly believe each student has the potential to learn.
