I am blessed to have received a wide variety job experiences. I am an avid learner and always looking for new challenges. I read constantly. Last month I read books about ants, Einstein, Buddha, and some silly detective novels. Right now I am reading about Richard Helms and the CIA.
I have always loved learning and sharing what I have learned. One of my proudest achievements was helping a sixteen year old girl learn long division. I discovered that she was not retarted, but simply had a hand eye coordination problem. (I had her turn the lined paper 90 degrees.)

I began tutoring as a volunteer in High School. I have since graduated Magna Cum Laude in less then 4 years earning two bachelor degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. I have recently finished my first year of law school in the top 30% of the class. My experience in Political Science, Philosophy, and law have set me apart in grammar, punctuation, and both formal and creative writing. I have most recently privately tutored a high school student in English, Literature, and Writing.
I realize that each student learns differently and thus should be approached differently. My teaching style is to exert patience and positive reinforcement for each style of learning. I believe that tutoring is the missing link in a child's education, and that providing structure and follow up is the best method.

A Little Bit About Me...

I really like children and love seeing the light go on when they finally comprehend the area of study that has been troubling them. I want children to learn to think for themselves in problem solving, not just go through the steps to get to an answer. Learning can and should be fun.
I am a registered Professional Civil Engineer and have worked managing construction projects around the world. Given the right atmosphere, I honestly believe anyone can learn. Unfortunately, many individuals are given labels, especially regarding their learning capacity, and once that belief system is in place, the expectations are often lowered and self-esteem suffers. As a classroom teacher I realized the many problems my students had to deal with. This prompted my to complete my master in school counseling.
