My initial experience was as a 2nd grade teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools.(6years) I then moved to Ohio where I taught for 4 years as a Learning and Behavior Disordered teacher. I attended Kent State University and procured a Masters in Counseling for the Elementary Children. I taught Creative Dance in the Tucson, Arizona Pre-Schools (8 of them) for several years and then moved tom Reno, Nv where I worked as a Kindergarten teacher for one year and then served as teacher in the first, second, third, and fourth grades for a total of 11 years.

I believe that our children hold the future of our world in their hands and hearts and for this reason I have a deep desire to assist them in learning all of their subjects as well as they can. My approach is democratic in that I ask the child for his/her input on what they like to study and learn too. Finding out a childs loves is important for a teacher. An example is: Going to the library to find books for students to read because it is something they enjoy as well as doing their assigned class work. A Little Bit About Me...

I emphasize meaning in my instructional style. Rather than, say, inculcate a formula for comma us, I try to convey how comma use provides meaningful structure to an idea, i.e. the sentence. In the larger sphere of things, I believe in showing a student how a piece of literature--which may well include his or her own writing--is meaningful to himself. When this is accomplished, I have found that the "meaning" of the work provides the necessary impetus to motivate the student. I love working with students. As a teacher I enjoy the learning process and love watching the students discover new concepts and ideas. As as school counsleor I assisted students in working at their emotional and challenging behaviors. In both positions I strongly believe each student has the potential to learn. I teach to the different learn styles of my students.
When I was working as a secretary I knew I wanted to further my education. I returned to school and completed my bachelor of science in education. As a classroom teacher I realized the many problems my students had to deal with. This prompted my to complete my master in school counseling.
