A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have a BA in Liberal Studies (Education) from Cal-State Northridge. During my years at this university, I took classes to work in the elementary school setting and as a result, have observed and participated in various elementary school settings from Kindergarten through the 5th grade. While I was there, I also helped tutor a special needs student who was in some of my classes who needed help with English and Linguistics. I am currently taking classes in early childhood education so that I can work with the younger children as well.
I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Fair, firm and consistent are my mantras of classroom management. In that, I believe that all children deserve a safe, clean, engaging, yet structured environment in which to meet their full potential. I firmly believe that learning is a team affair, and practice the standards of cooperative learning.
For the past year-and-a-half, I have worked as a long-term substitute teacher for the Palm Springs Unified School District, acting as the virtual teacher of record in dedicated classrooms on several occasions. Inherent in that experience, I developed lesson plans and graded student work, as well as liaised with parents and administration.
