As a college graduate, I have been educated on a wide variety of topics which I achieved high academic excellence. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communication disorders and psychology. These subjects have allowed me to gain knowledge about the basic maths and sciences as well as about people. Moreover, through my college experience, I have extremely sufficient grammatical skills due to the numerous research papers I have written. Since high school, I have mentored 4th and 5th grade students in reading and math, taught Girl Scouts life skills, and assisted many peers in studying the areas of communication disorders and psychology.
I have a talent for teaching and love to help students learn material in a way other than how it is traditionally taught. I believe everyone has a different learning style and it is important to teach in ways that a variety of students under ... read more

I spent 2 years tutoring Math for the students in my Mothers classroom afterschool (4th grade). I spent one year in college working with special needs students from the local elementary school, which included writing lesson plans and executing activities in group form. I taught one year of 7th grade Health and Physical Education. I tutored all the students at the end of the year to help them achieve passing scores on End Of Grade testing.
I do not like to teach out of textbooks. I use them primarily as resources. I prefer to create a lesson or activity that plays to the strengths of the individual child/student and challenges them on their particular level. I have found interactive lessons are very effective for all age ranges.

As a tutor, I know I will be responsible for teaching, tutoring, and offering assistance on various math assignments and test preparations to students. I have worked with students both privately and in group sessions. I am a very patient person, friendly, and optimistic. I truly believe that I can make a difference in a student's life because I have experienced it before. When I was a peer math tutor, I found it to be so rewarding to be able to help a student get through a difficult course with my assistance and encouragement. I look forward to experiencing these rewards again as a tutor with this program.

I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.
My first tutoring experience was in high school, assisting other students in Algebra. I have earned two bachelor degrees, a BS in Business Administration and a BS in Computer Science. After college I worked at an insurance company as an IT Training Advisor. My primary responsibili ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Therefore, I believe that the best way to teach a child is to do it in a way that will allow them to take the initiative in their own learning. I want the children to enjoy learning through discovery of the material in their own unique way (not how I want them to learn). I firmly believe in Howard Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences which states that everybody has their own way of learning whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic etc...

I truly believe that children are the future and I teach and treat them according to that. Teaching with Understanding is the primary goal that I have. Through my own experience I have learned that every child learns and understands differently and it is my job to teach them accordingly. I am always looking for new, inventive and effective ways of teaching. I have great patience, and a good listener; which I personally feel is important when teaching a child, I feel by listening to a child a teacher can discover the child’s uniqueness and apply their teaching to that. I am very devoted to what I do and would provide my all to your students.

My students have included preschoolers to senior citizens, third world farmers to education professionals. Learning should be structured. Learning should be fun. A Little Bit About Me...

Through my experiences working with children, I have learned to adapt my teaching styles to fit each students' individual needs. Many students learn through visual and tactile means, where as others can pick up new material orally. I also believe it is important for me as an educator to connect with the students in way that each student feels that you understand them. Many students lack self esteem and confidence when it comes to their learning abilities and I am there to help them believe in themselves in order to produce successful work. My background as a bilingual educator has helped me to consistently be culturally sensitive in the classroom environment as well as within the community.
