A Little Bit About Me...

As an Application Engineer for a research company, it was my resposaability to train, instruct and give seminars on the material currently in vogue in Semiconductor, Biology, Physics, and Geology in materials to be analyzed. These seminars were meant to instruct and inform researchers of the techniques available. Most seminars were at colleges and universities in the U.S. and overseas. A Little Bit About Me...

I started college as a math major with a concentration in finite math. My goal was to work for a company using both my mathematics and computer programming skills. In my junior year of college, I realized that ever since high school I had enjoyed helping my friends with their math as much as I enjoyed taking math classes. I switched to the teaching option at that time. Although I have taught almost every level of math from junior high to high school, I have focused on algebra and geometry for the past 20 years. I currently teach remedial algebra, geometry, and advanced geometry.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with a degree in Business and have spent six years as an actuary working in a professional and math-oriented field for major firms (Blue Shield and Mercer). I have a strong background in math dating back to high school where I scored an 800 on the SAT math section as a junior. I also bring experience working with youth. I tutored math to junior high, high school and college students off and on during past decade. I worked three summers as summer camp counselor, spent one summer as a behavioral coach for autistic children and taught math one summer at private academy.

A Little Bit About Me...

Because each student, young or old, responds to different learning stimuli (graphical or verbal) at diffrent rates, I always try to get to know my student first. I then try to tailor my tutoring to how they respond best and retain what they've learned. I believe in repetition and using examples that a student can relate to, and then testing the student's understanding of the subject matter.
