A Little Bit About Me...

One of the most exciting things about teaching E.S.L. is the feeling that one is learning something new every day. I vividly remember several groups who taught me so many things related to education more so than books. My goal was to search for new ways of becoming a better teacher. In particular, I benefited from working in different places and with students of many ages. The beginning of my career started off as a constant problem because I had to deal with my student’s affective and cognitive development and their low level of linguistic competence in their target language. My students needed activities requiring limited language that could none the less be made cognitively and effectively challenging. I believe in basic teaching with practice,and feedback. The differeniation of individual learning styles is always taken into consideration. My primary focus has been on 6th grade math and pre-algebra and having students understand the step-by-step process so they can not only know where the are, but where they are going and where they have been in mathematic skills. Working with ESOL students of many cultures has been a plus and has been a great part of my education focus when teaching English. I do not speak a second language, but have the necessary skills to help students that speak a different language as their first language.
