I have attended UNC School of the Arts for 7 1/2 Years studying modern/contemporary dance. I have also been trained in ballet, jazz, and have experience doing yoga, and Pilates. I am reliable, and very determined to teach those who are willing to be taught. I have done performances, and taught in New York, Winston-Salem, and Virginia.
My teacher style is a mixture of ballet, contemporary, and jazz fusion.

A Little Bit About Me...

I went to Ohio State in Art, then graduated at Ohio U. I taught 14 years in Florida and Ohio , grades 1 through 12; all subjects. I taught using primarily Art and music. My areas of expertise are Reading, Literature, English, and the arts. I have acted in Little Theatre, choreographed, and taught Drama in High School and in College. I had just started tutoring at A to Z Tutoring in Florida but in 2007 I moved back to North Carolina. I substituted many years in North Carolina and taught in High School and some Elementary.
I have always thought of myself as a progressive teacher. I always thought children could learn to do anything they were asked to do. I strongly believe in differentiated learning. Each student, with the help of a qualified educator, should discover which learning style (or combination of styles) works best for them. They can then employ techniques to make learning and retention of information learned easier for them. I am a "hands on" teacher...research has proven that we remember what we have physically or manipulatively participated in. I have a great sense of humor, which serves to make learning a fun journey! I recently relocated to the Huntersville area. I recently graduated from UNCW with a degreee in Psychology with a focus on children. Since middle school, working with children has been my passion. I realized my dream after some of my cousins came over to America from the war torn country of Liberia and were having a very hard time adjusting. I was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill's Master's Program for Rehabilitation but declined after fearing it would take me down the path of working with the elderly instead of working with children. I have very extensive experience working with children at camps, researching at UNCW, tutoring foster children, and special needs with Lindley Habilitation services in Wilmington (mainly working with a client having Hunter's syndrome who was learning sign language, etc). A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching gives me a feeling of joy, and when I think back to my younger years and those days in the classroom I remember the teachers who made a difference in my life and I've always wanted to do the same. The reward I get from teaching is feeling like I've made the difference. I love to motivate and challenge students to learn, since I myslef am still a student the freshness of information and knowledge is at my fingertips.
As a substitute teacher and an aspiring full-time teacher I've been on a journey to obtain my Master's in Education. I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. While completing my undergraduate studies I was a tutor for the Omega C.H.A.M.P.S program, tutoring in mathematics.
