I work on vocabulary strategies and skills next. The proper vocabulary background for any subject area should be clear and concise to the student. I love teaching and working with all students. I believe all children can learn and it is about finding the child's learning style. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery. Sometimes I use manipulatives or games to help with instruction. Other times it is a mini lecture or work sheets. It all depends the child and the material that needs to be taught.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although my BS degree is in Computer Science, I have taken (and passed!) courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering - which means I have learned a lot of advanced math. My work as a software developer required writing "white papers" to explain and describe our software as well as test documents that would allow a person unfamiliar with our software to sit down and formally test it. During the last two years I have formally 'taught' a developmently disabled young person and I tutored a co-worker for two semesters.

They took all the credits I had earned as a student at both schools, allowed me to define my degree, told me which additional credits I needed and granted my degree. I have homeschooled my children for 15 years. My oldest is 19 and going to RIT in the fall. He has an AS which he got the week he turned 18. I also have two teens whom I currently school.
