I believe that teaching is most effective when you give students a chance to show you what they already know. Half of teaching is simply encouraging children to be interested in their own progress and to persevere through the adversity that always follows real learning. I gage the progress of my students by asking them a lot of questions, and I give positive reinforcement whenever possible. As a member of a musical family, I grew up w/ a profound passion for creating & understanding music. My first instrument of choice was playing the drums, I started playing when I was 12 years old. Taking lessons from the famed Wilco drummer, Glen Kotche & getting involved with the school Jazz program were highlights from my high school days. I went on to attend the University of Tennessee graduating in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in Horticulture Science with a minor in Business. Though I did not scholastically pursue a music degree, I continued playing & taking music lessons in college.
