Piano is one of my top subjects! I have played the piano for over two decades. I have extensive training and my primary musical instrument while earning my music degree was the piano. I have played for various competitions, recitals, weddings, anniversaries, funerals and other occasions. I taught the piano at various musical studios, churches, music stores and at student's homes.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. A Little Bit About Me...

My most recent experience was as apreschool teacher. Despite the fact that the children were all the same age, whatever developmental or cognitive delays a child might have, is not being addressed, therefore making the teaching environment, very stressful. Prior to the preschool classes, I taught as a substitute in the school district where I attended college. To this day, I am involved in my newphews schoolwork, and help him to write book reports and research papers. That is my specialty area. I have scored perfectly in the grammar section of my college writing exam and also have experience editing works for private papers.

As a writer, I have a great passion for the English language. I have experience in both literature and writing through my Bachelor's degree. I am currently an MA candidate in a Creative Writing program. As an undergraduate, I minored in Studio Art. I have been a church organist for the last 8 years. I have played the organ for 17 years. I also play the clarinet and saxophone (12 years). I have a firm grasp of music theory.
I believe that students can educate teachers just as well as teachers can educate students. I try to remain on-the-level with students in order to make them comfortable. Children love to learn and feel a sense of accomplishment and self-worth when they are successful. I greatly enjoy helping children learn. Each child has the capacity to learn and it is the teachers job to present the material in a manner which is conductive to the child’s understanding. Providing tools to help each student comprehend the material is essential. Many students are helped with additional reading strategies, or using a math manipulative to make an abstract concept understandable, or a graphic organizer to help understand new content material.
