In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. Regardless of the learning style, I have learned that it is my job to make learning relevant and meaningful to students.
The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society. The teacher also helps build a foundation in subject matter to help develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the world through different disciplines.

I retired from a technical/executive career in the chemical industry. My last position was as VP of Operations and Innovation. I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, some graduate studies in applied math and in a Tennessee Teacher Education Program. I taught high school Chemistry and Anatomy/Physiology. I also tutored math, physics and biology. I have tutored ACT prep courses. I have completed several teaching workshops and own multiple probe ware measuring tools that I employ as needed.
