After gaining my teaching certification with my MS, I taught history and geography in Alabama. After my Latin American Studies MA. I taught Latin, Greek, and Spanish. A Little Bit About Me...

As a tutor, I believe it is crucial to get students to actively participate in the process. Experience has taught me that students do not respond well to long lectures; instead, I teach by asking questions and encouraging students to find the answers for themselves. I am able to explain concepts that children do not understand, but I insist that they attempt to work through problems first. Teaching Style: When the school busses arrived in the morning at Drumlin Farm, I would always welcome the visiting pupils with great enthusiasm. I would determine what the boys and girls already knew, or thought they knew, and what they would like to learn. Then we would go off to have a joyous and educational time learning about, and milking the cows, collecting and scrambling eggs, or planting pumpkin seeds in the warm May soil. I attended college at three different schools, on athletic scholarship in two of them. I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Philosophy and BA in Political Science. After graduating I spent one semester teaching sciences at an outdoor based alternative middle and elementary school just outside of Austin, TX. In college and afterwards I have continued to be involved in issues regarding immigration and minorities. I spent one year living and working in the Central Andes in Peru. Each child is different. A good teacher helps each student meet their expectations while keeping the child interested in the subject matter.
