A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate, I spent nearly three years assisting groups of students with how to learn content for the historically difficult courses of College Chemistry I and II. I have my BS in Nuclear Medicine Technology, which permitted me to learn and acquire a great understanding in multiple areas. These areas include biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, algebra, statistics, and beginning and intermediate levels of Spanish . In February 2011, I will be finished my MBA in Healthcare Management, which has broadened my knowledge in business courses, such as economics, accounting, marketing and finance. While studying at SUNY ESF I held a position as a teaching assistant for Western Civilization. This involved grading exams and papers, preparing and giving lectures, and holding office hours to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have had. I also spent time volunteering to teach and after school science club through ESF Outreach for elementary / middle school aged children.
I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. Also, if the student's teacher stays positive and pushes him or her towards success by means of positive reinforcement they will succeed.

I can identify and help students with learning disabilities because I myself have a learning disability. Although I myself was considered to be a slow learner and I had (and still have) dyslexia, I never the less taught myself how to study and how to get through high school, college, and graduate school.
