My comments on tutoring Social Studies : Experienced at the Middle and High School level.

I like to nurture my students without enabling them. I tend to ask my students pointed questions about the subject at hand to inspire critical thinking and push them to arrive at their own interpretation of the correct answer. I feel that this best prepares them for college-level work.
I graduated from Princeton University with a BA (cum laude) in History and will be starting a Ph.D. program in History in the fall. I served as a tutor at the middle school level during my college years and have worked with High School students on History, English and ACT/SAT prep for the past year.I have also served in various other academically-related positions, including as a research assistant and library assistant.

My comments on tutoring Social Studies : I have taught S. Studies for over 15 years. I am certified to teach this subject in grades 1-8.

I have taught for many decades and use a variety of teaching styles since all students learn differently. I am more of a 'traditional' style teacher, realizing that the basics are vital. Some students remember best what they see, some what they hear, but nearly all will best recall material that they see hear say and do something with.
