Writing is one of my top subjects!

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. My major was English Literature, with a double minor in French Language and Communications. I am also a certified composition peer tutor, assisting students in Composition I, Composition II, and graduate level papers. I have also written procedural instructions for positions. I have worked in the automotive and mortgage industries.
My teaching style is very holistic. I want to empower students to discover and employ their voices. I want to develop critical thinking skills, analysis, synthesis, and retention, basically, I want to help people *THINK* about what they are saying, what they are doing, to interpret the world around them. In the end, it is the student's choice whether or not they modify their papers. I believe in having a one on one discussion. I am resourceful. My comments on tutoring Writing : I have always been a writer, ever since I can remember. I am a certified English and French teacher with 18 years of experience.

I am a certified teacher of French and English; I have taught both subjects at the middle and high school levels for 18 years. In addition, I have 6 years of tutoring experience before becoming a teacher. I have worked with students of all ages, elementary through college. I am one course shy of my Masters' in French. I have worked with inner-city middle school students for more than 10 years, through a program called "Math Corps." (Google it.)

English and Writing CAN be Fun!

Since being awarded a master's degree in 2008, I've taught English composition, literature, and reading comprehension courses at Wayne State University, Henry Ford Community College, Oakland Community College, and Jackson Community College. I am currently a professor of English at Wayne County Community College.
The collaborative learning approach, where students are encouraged to discuss what and how they're learning, is most effective. Students tend to engage much better with course material when the instructor has discussions with them, as opposed to lecturing at them.
