In addition, I use a 'research yesterday's work' approach, and a 'search the index' approach for leading a student to find the appropriate answer. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a Sunday school teacher for a wide range of age. This experience makes me comfortable in many different classroom settings. I also taught basic health lessons to adult women in developing nations such as India and Uganda. I have been a substitute teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students in the Arlington Independent School District in Texas. I supervised a grant funded tutoring program for refugee children going to school in the Fort Worth Independent School District. I paired tutors with classrooms and students and gave them teaching material. All of the students were learning English as a second or third language. I also tutored the refugee children myself, in reading and in English.

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age. I was a nanny for a family of three for a year right after graduating. It was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to create my own lessons and activities for the children. The following year I was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin for various grade levels and loved each experience. I am looking forward to beginning to substitute teach again this December in the DeKalb area.
