After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Youngstown University, Youngstown, Ohio I was employed by the Crestwood Schools, Mantua, Ohio to teach instrumental music. I taught this subject at the middle school level while assisting with the high school program. My entire thirty year career in instrumental music was with the Crestwood School System. During my tenure at Crestwood Middle School the instrumental music program evolved into a vital program within the school involving four bands and over 250 students. Although I believe the FCAT is a test that demands respect, I do not teach to the FCAT. My instruction is differentiated for each child and if they are able to give me more, I push them to their ability. My goal for my students is to teach to the highest level they excel in using a variety of methods........I want my students to be well-rounded in their abilities, not just able to pass a test.
