A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from high school in 2011 with special honors and as co-valedictorian. I am now attending the University of Mississippi where I am majoring in accountancy and minoring in business. My passion is writing, so naturally that is what I do best. Every year, I am contacted by numerous students from my high school and also my classmates at Ole Miss about proofreading their papers. I have completed each of the classes listed as expert with an 'A' at Itawamba Community College. I currently tutor at the ICC Success Center and ICC Writing Center for English. I am also in my last semester before acquiring an Associate's and continuing to the University of Mississippi to pursue a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering.

I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. Walking through problems gives them a better visualization of what they are trying to solve.
As a recent college graduate, I understand the high expectations and the stress that it can cause a college student, especially coming from a school where most professors expected students to teach themselves concepts. I believe however the child needs the information, is how I will teach. Children have many different styles of learning and you have to be flexible for them to become successful. I believe Mathematics can be fun and entertaining. I want the best for every child out there.
I worked at Learning Center in Tupelo, MS for a year as a proctor for government issued tests and a mathematics tutor. I have not received my Elementary Education Bachelor's Degree yet, however, I am in the process of receiving it. I will graduate Dec. 2011. I have taken 21 hours in Mathematics so far at the college level, and love working with children. I have had to tutor from first grade to college level. I have found that many students are over-whelmed by material and do not see any application for the material, and thus they do not have the desire needed to absorb the material. I strive to make the material fun and break it down to small units so that it is easily absorbed.
I have spent 10 years in college academia resulting in a PhD as my terminal degree. As a Math graduate, I wanted to remove hesitation and fear of students for this subject and I became a Math tutor. I have taught advance Math (Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus) at High Schools and also done tutoring for these subjects.
