It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. Being a 1:1 teacher allows me the freedom and time to work with a student on a concept in a number of ways until the cognition sets in for him. I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.

During my time as a tutor I've learned a variety of teaching styles. I've worked with kindergartners and employed an animated, high energy style to capture their attention and keep them motivated. For older students I use a type of Socratic method where instead of answering questions for them, I work with students by requiring them to answer questions so they can lead themselves to the right answer.
