Various methods are used such as Suzuki Method, but stress on technical foundation in scales, arpeggios and etudes. As students progress, will begin to add musicality, identity and style to their playing while simultaneously expanding repertoire to different eras of music.

A Little Bit About Me...

The art of teaching is contingent upon your audience, your students. I believe that as a teacher, it is critical that I adjust and modify my teaching style to match those of my students that I am teaching. I am a firm believer that the success of our students' learning lies upon how well you know your students. Therefore, I have many diverse teaching styles to embrace the different learning styles and modalities of the many student populations that I've worked with (English Learners, students in special education, & students from different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic levels). Every child has the potential to learn and it is up to the teacher to orchestrate and guide the child towards those learning opportunities.
As a teacher, my goal has always been to increase student achievement. I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade. Although my concentration has been mostly ... read more

As a nutrition student and future dietitian, part of job includes counseling patients on nutrition and a healthy diet. This often requires translating my knowledge and education into ways that other people can easily understand and relate to.
I am patient, understanding, and trustworthy. I am a firm believer in perseverance and learning from ones mistakes in order to grow as an individual, as is portrayed by one of my favorite quotes: “Life is like photography – it takes the negatives to develop”. A Little Bit About Me...

I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses. The student learns at his/her pace and will vary by the amount of practice he/she puts into it.
In 1997 I was a teacher assistant for the Huntington Park High School music department. I ran rehearsals with the marching band, jazz band, jazz choir, beginning orchestra, and beginning band. In April of 2000 I started ... read more

In addition to B.A. degrees in Mathematics and Psychology, I have experience as a Software Engineer, a Pharmacy Technician, and a Professional Musician. I have tutored children from ages 14 to 18 in English, Mathematics, History, and Music over a period of two years. I have provided them with an excellent role model for dealing with friends, teachers, employers, and other social contacts in the future.
My teaching style is totally interactive. I plan each lesson before initiating it with the student. I first inform the student what will be covered in the lesson, and then question him or her to determine background knowledge and capability. At each step of the lesson, after presenting the material, I ask the student questions to determine the resultant level of understanding, and after the lesson is completed, I give a test to document the results. I keep a diary of the intera ... read more
