My comments on tutoring College Algebra : You need to know your basic if you are tutoring calculus

Have a PhD in organic chemistry. Have been teaching assistants in almost undergraduate level chemistry classes (general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry) during graduate school. Have more than 13 years tutoring experience. Paid my undergraduate college education through tutoring and scholarships. My strongest subjects are chemistry and mathematics.
I would like to explain a global picture of a class material, what to expect from learning the class. All of this is not to scare students, but to mentally prepare them with the challenge ahead. I like to give my student quizzes after the tutoring, just to make sure they understand. This is a feedback process, so I could adjust my tutoring style accordingly.

Math and stats tutor motivated to help you succeed!

Through my experience as a tutor I see that not all students are alike. Some like to really understand the subject inside out and others want to simply get by and pass the class. I try to gauge what is needed so that I don’t overwhelm a student by giving too much information but at the same time keep it interesting for students who prefer a good challenge. I like to use practice exercises that ask for application of the materials which makes for a better understanding of the theory.
