A Little Bit About Me...

I come from a teaching family, and continue to learn from teachers myself. I feel that because I am still eager to continue to learn new things, I can appreciate a good teacher. I myself need good teachers, and I would not provide a student with anything but that. I am a hard worker and give 110% for every job that needs to be done. While at college, I was a member of the Americorps program in which I completed over 300 hours of community service. During that service, I had roles as both a student and a teacher. I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). From smart boards (promethean), webquests via the internet, to old fashioned poster board in a cooperative learning atmosphere. At Harrisburg in the urban environment, I learned to utilize many styles due to low resources and a diverse student population where I had to appeal to a diverse group of learners.
