I am open to different tutoring/teaching styles to accommodate different peoples individual needs and differences in learning style.I am very passionate about teaching/tutoring and enjoy helping others and seeing them understand a concept that before may have been trivial to them. I do whatever I possibly can in order to accommodate each persons needs. I graduated from Monmouth College with a B.A Degree in Mathematics while being a four-year starter and two-year football team captain. I can serve as an example that studies and extracurricular activities can go hand in hand. For the first two years I was a chemistry major and my science coursework included botany, geology, and astronomy. Furthermore, my non-math and science electives were focused on ancient Greek philosophy, society, and recreation. The liberal arts curriculum and an incredible grammar teacher in high school have provided me with excellent literary skills as well. A Little Bit About Me...

My background includes teaching at the elementary level and at the adult education level, especially literacy. I spent 10 years directing an adult literacy program where I trained volunteers to be tutors and tutored myself. During that time I took an intensive training course on working with people with learning disabilities. I have worked with ESOL students, as well.
I believe that each child/adult has a learning style unique to them. Finding what works and what makes learning fun, to me, are critical to success, especially to struggling learners. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are critical, as well.
