I have a social work background which, in my work has always been integrated with some component of teaching, both in and out of the classroom. I can teach most K-12 subjects, college prep courses and provide tutoring services including assessment and curriculum development. I tend to be rather versatile in my teaching methods as I adapt to the learning style of the student. It's what I have found most effective in improving the quality of their educational experience. I play tournament chess and enjoy coaching chess club as well.
I ascribe to Gardner's 8 Stages of Intelligence theory, which purports the belief that every student is gifted, intelligent and capable of learning in a manner that conducive to their own unique style. As a teacher, I use myself as a tool to help facilitate the learning process.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have good analytical and diagnostic skills. I am able to take students at their present levels of cognitive ability and help them to progress and also reinforce concepts that the students might have missed and need to master for complete understanding. I am patient and encourage students to ask questions and offer suggestions. I firmly believe that teaching basic skills and study habits will create successful lifelong learners.
I have always loved teaching. I never had a desire to divert from teaching and become a counselor or an administrator. I have taught students from kindergarten to community college. I do not have a certification in math but I have taught k-8 math in special education classes and in mainstream classes through inclusion. Florida Writes is designed to measure students' proficiency in writing responses to assigned topics within a designated testing period. Find your tutor now. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible.
