I graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Math & Science. As a student I worked in the classroom for 3 semesters doing various jobs. A Little Bit About Me...

After earning my BS in Elementary Education at Western Carolina, I became a tutor, part time assistant in Jackson County Schools (as an assistant in two ESL classrooms-one at a high school level and in an elementary/middle school classroom) and as a Lowes Sales Associate part time. I later became a fifth grade teacher at Cherokee Elementary on the Reservation. This is my third year teaching fifth grade and my responsibilities include tutoring three days a week after school in reading and math, teaching full time all subjects including science, training for EOG administration and continuously attending workshops to gain skills pertaining to my profession.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since I earned my K-6 teaching license, I have worked with children in several different instructional/mentor/tutoring positions. I worked as a teaching assistant in Fifth Grade and First Grade. At the same time, I was also the Education Director for the local Boys and Girls Club. I have also subbed and worked as a tutor since March of 2009.
I enjoy teaching and working with elementary aged children. I love those moments when, after much effort, the light of understanding dawns in a student's eyes. When it comes to how children acquire knowledge, I believe it is very important to help them build new knowledge based upon their prior knowledge and experiences.
