The statistics degree program had a heavy emphasis in mathematics, so a lot of my course work contained math classes. I will be starting at the University of Kentucky in August 2012, preparing for a Masters in Statistics, and available for tutoring the end of August/early September 2012.

I am a high school senior in the AP/Honors program at Warner Robins High School. I have two little sisters who I have tutored since they began school. On average, they have scored higher on tests when I have helped, particularly in the area of social studies. I have also helped multiple students at my school. The average that they score on a test is typically ten points higher than when they study by themselves and, in some cases, twenty points if the student does not study at all. The results are typically better in social studies, the subject which I am most proficient in, but all subjects tend to shoe significant improvement.
I am hands on. I personally learn best from things like powerpoints and handouts. This is also the way I tend to teach others.

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently completed a Youth Staff contract aboard Royal Caribbean. Along with entertainment, we promoted learning and creativity, offering educational activities through science experiments, and expression through art projects, theme nights, and parades. I've taught English classes for kids/teens in Brazil, and led equestrian programs in Greece for troubled and disabled local children. Prior to leaving the US, I filled my passion tutoring “at risk” children after school in Buffalo, and working to develop language skills through cultural activities for families in Boston. I have a special talent for literature, writing, and art, but also love math and science.
I love working with children of all ages, and like combining education with fun. I am a thoughtful, creative, and patient teacher, and like to encourage children to approach problems and questions in their own way, frequently ... read more

I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I beleive that we all learn in different ways and a person should use a learning strategy that works best for them. I am available to help your child succeed academically. I have had much experience working with children of all ages in the Education Field as a Primary Teacher for Head Start and CIS after school program. I enjoy tutoring. I obtain gratification through helping students to grasp concepts that seem vague or out of reach. I always keep a professional relationship with people. I like to make people feel welcome to ask questions. It is important to respond to students in a manner that encourages them to ask questions. I also ask questions to obtain feedback on how to approach problems, build problem solving skills, and resolve issues that limit their understanding of subject matter. My ultimate goal is to build a students character so that s/he will have the confidence to strive in reaching for higher education.
