Certified Spanish Speaking Bilingual Teacher

I have been fluent in Spanish for more than 30 years. I was a bilingual (Spanish) 4th grade teacher for the last 7 years, as well as an ESL teacher for kindergarten - 6th grades. The last two years I have been a 1st/2nd grade bilingual (Spanish) teacher. Every summer for the many years I either taught summer school or at the local museum.

Elementary Math is one of my top subjects! Math was my favorite subject in school and I am confident in my Math skills and ability to teach it.

My classroom experience with Special Education started while in college at Illinois State University, where I gained very valuable experience teaching in a variety of classrooms. For one semester, I taught in a junior high life-skills classroom where we practiced daily living skills and went out into the community so the students could practice skills such as locating items in a store, paying with money, and crossing the street. Hello, my name is Jennifer Garcia and I am currently in the final stage of becoming a certified elementary teacher. My experience began in high school when I offered my tutoring services to elementary children. The student was in grade school and I assisted in math for a period of 3 months. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a passion for education since I was a third grade student. I always thought I wanted to be a teacher "when I grew up." I earned a BA in psychology and started a Master's program in elementary education. Due to personal circumstances, however, I was not able to complete the program. I then taught early childhood and continued to volunteer in schools. I now work in the education department at Bradley University.
