Drawing is one of my top subjects! All students at SCAD are required to take a number of drawing courses, each taught by some of the best teachers in the country. Even at the level I was before arriving at SCAD, I've seen vast improvement in my skills, improvement I hope to pass on and encourage a more creative world.

I've been an artist since just about day one, from my doodles as a child, to my time at one of the best art schools in the country, to the professional commissions I take to supplement my income. Having received a formal education, I am necessarily versed in the theory of art and design, and all its styles, from representational realism to abstract dreamscapes. Today, my focus is on character work, drawing characters realistically (with proper proportions, anatomy, lighting, etc) rendered almost cartoonishly, with thick lines and bright colors. Most of my work today is done digitally, with my education being primarily in traditional media, leaving me with broad knowledge of different techniques.
Like those who taught me, my teaching style isn't harsh or cushy, just realistic. I will happily tell you where you've improved, but I will also point out where there can still be improveme ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love trying to help children gain knowledge. I believe anyone is capable of learning something new no matter how old they are and that patience and the use of deductive knowledge are they key's to having someone develop their knowledge. My method of teaching will evoke these attributes as well as reptition so that not only will your child know the material I am tutoring by the time that I am done, but it will also become routine to them. My main goal will be to teach them to know how to reason and analyse themselves while guideing them to make the right choices on their academic work.
As a UB graduate, I was very driven to learn the most I could in the areas of humanities and social sciences. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in History and BA in Political Science. With history, I wrote many essays that required me to decipher large amounts of kryptic writing aging back from ... read more

I love teaching children about our visual culture, and learning how to see and create with their minds eye. I feel each child has their own voice, and I love being able to be of service to help them direct, develop and grow through their artwork. I find teaching a solid foundation of the basics in visual art is important in the early years so that as the child or children get older and start to develop and express their unique point of view, their foundation can grow by teaching them more advanced techniques that can give them more possibilities to express themselves in. The biggest gift I can give is my inspiration for success.
Through my educational experiences, in college and teaching, I have developed my knowledge and skills in teaching to a diverse population. Such experiences include substitute teaching in a variety of different school districts, and teaching and developing a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to take the time to learn about the student themselves, and try to understand the problem specific to the individual. I think learning should be fun and approached in a way that puts little pressure on the student. A complete understanding requires an environment in which the student can personally relate to on an everyday basis.
Over the course of my education, I have developed a strong understanding of math and science courses. In addition, I have a passion for the arts, psychology and management. Attending both a community college as well as a large 4-year institute has exposed me to a variety of teaching styles. Through this I have learned effective ways to explain and work through different learning styles.

I am a recent graduate of a University in LA. During my tenure at Southern University, I decided to persue a degree in science. I have tutored students in English, Organic Chemistry (I),Microbiology (Lec and Lab), and other areas pertaining to the sciences.
I am a firm believer in everyone having their own learning style. I had to figure this myself doing assessments of students during the years of tutoring, as well as being a student. I believe I am able to assess the need of the child, figure out their learning style, and apply it to them in a way that will have an effective outcome for the student for the present, as well as the future. My goal in life is to be a successful teacher to many students. I have already began this exciting journey by volunteering in classrooms starting at the age of fourteen; now I am teaching. My teaching philosophy includes all students; all students can learn. It is the teacher's job to find out what teaching strategy will work best with each student. All students can strive, however, some students may learn material in a different method. Students need to be in a positive, conducive learning environment that best suits them so that ative learning will take place. Students need to have experiences throughout their learning career, it is my job as a teacher to provide this for students. I have been working with children ever since I can remember. I love to engage in creative activities with children while helping them utilize their strengths to overcome their limitations. I've learned that by figuring out what motivates a child, s/he can learn anything! I also know that if a child is having fun, it means that s/he is learning something. My teaching style is fun, unique, focused, hands-on and engaging.
I have spent my life working towards degrees that would help me to give my life meaning. I have earned a B.S. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, as well as, a bilingual extension in Spanish.
