All through college I Tutored children at-risk and/or having a disability. I determined individual needs and apply a variety of methods to help children learn. As a first grade teaching after school I tutor first grader with reading and math. I like children to learn in a fun way. Students need to get up and learn. Worksheets are not something that I like to do when tutoring. Children sit in a desk all day. They do not want to then go and tutor and sit some more. I like to get the kids up and learning. I believe in a more visual aspect in learning and teaching. "Hands on" as much as possible. For example, it's easier to learn looking at a mesquite tree than reading about it or looking at a picture of the tree. I try to make learning fun and thrill to the discovery of knowledge. A lot of biology however, is more of a "rote memorization" type of learning. This tends to bore some so I try to make it more real and exciting.
