Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. My tutoring experience had its inception in that setting. As a progressive educator, I believe in attainment of the standard benchmarks by individualized methods, utilitizng a spectrum of teaching modalities. I earned my degree in Human Services from Virginia Wesleyan College, after graduating I returned to Massachusetts and took several classes towards a Masters degree at Anna Maria College. During this time I worked as a substitute teacher for the Spencer/East Brookfield school district and Leicester schools. I was also employed by the Spencer schools as an in home tutor working with the school, teachers and students unable to attend school due to injury or behavioral difficulty in the schools.
