Children who enter the system at kindergarten should be surrounded by an environment where they can achieve their maximum potential. Their curiosity should be stimulated at a young age, and that along with an organized and developed program, will aid these students in disciplining themselves in whatever subject they study. Reading and writing are the cornerstones of education and should always be emphasized above all else. The purpose of education is to prepare a person for life. I have served as a substitute teacher in Hayward, CA for 1 1/2 years. I worked as a tutor for Learning & Loving It in San Jose, CA for 3 years. I served as a tutor and teacher of adult education in Loganville, GA for 1 year. I am currently on the substitute teacher roster for the Vicksburg School District, and I have been so for two years.
I first introduce myself and get to know a little about the student I am tutoring. Then, I establish a baseline of what they have learned so that I can direct my attention to their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I get into the material with the student and show them how and why the material is important and applicable in the world in which we live.

During my education at Alcorn, I have helped a myriad of my colleagues with papers, historical facts, and a general/detail understanding of a given historical topic. I would routinely do this three to four times a week. This opportunity helped to expand my knowledge and expound the students.
