I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that any child can learn and that we all have various learning styles. We just have to find the style that is best for optimum learning. Some of us are visual learners and some are auditory learners, and many of us learn with a combination of styles. I believe that by working with students to finding their unique and individual learning style a tutor is the most effective.

I specialize in journal entry writing and reconciliations. I reconcile both bank account statements and account balances with my master bank reconciliation having approximately $40 million debits and credits monthly.

A Little Bit About Me...

Though I have no official experience as a tutor, being the oldest of three children there was always an oppurtunity to help with homework. I like to teach using visual examples and being patient to allow the student to work at a pace they are comfortable with. I like to get to know the child and form a friendship with him or her. Once we develop a rapport it is easier for them to open up to me. When the comfort level is established we then develop a mutual-learning relationship, as I can learn from the student just as much as he or she can learn from me.
