Arabic is my native language. I also studied it at PSU and getting a minor in it. I got mostly A's in my Arabic classes. I am in a linguistic field planning to become an ESL teacher soon. I have helped some Arabic students and helped them pass the class. If I am not sure about something, I will study it myself in order to assist you in our next meeting. I also have 2 years experience in tutoring Arab students with their English homework. I feel more comfortable with lower-level classes but may be able to assist with higher levels too. A Little Bit About Me...

I would be most comfortable tutoring if I had access to the student's teacher's syllabus, textbooks and /or student classwork, quizzes and exams. My goal would be to reinforce the areas that are being covered in the classroom to help the student achieve better understanding of the coursework.
I lived in Costa Rica in for 25 years and my Spanish is excellent. Because Spanish is my 2nd language I have some keen insights into how best to attack the grammar. I taught English as a second language while in Costa Rica and I have been teaching in a Dual language Program for the past 8 years. I feel competent to tutor students in the area of Spanish at all levels and to help Spanish speakers with their English skills.

My love of reading and writing has led me to excel in 2 languages. An English major at Carleton College, I mastered the art of putting thoughts on paper to persuade, compare, or explicate; as well as how to read for meaning. Later at the Sorbonne in Paris, I transferred these talents to French. I have since taught and tutored reading, writing, and speaking in both languages in the U.S. and abroad.
My teaching style is active and enthusiastic. I show students clues and shortcuts in all sorts of subjects so that learning can be fun and even easy. I am tolerant and patient, while at the same time I request diligence and assiduousness. I revel in the success of my students, thanks to their efforts and hard work. I love to see students finally understand something they find challenging.
