Special Education is one of my top subjects! I have worked with a number of different students with various diagnoses including autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and more. I don't believe in"learning disabilities"because it indicates one is "unable" to learn. This is not the case. Students learn in their own way and I get to help discover how my students learn along with them. This is the advantage of being a tutor rather than a classroom teacher of 25 Students. Teachers must provide the teaching methods that help promote the learning process in the majority of Students. 20/25 may benefit and the rest are labled "disabled"

I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. When a student can see a pattern develop they develop an understanding that can be universally applied to many different areas of study and life circumstances. Learning is different then memorizing. It is especially important to understand the concepts behind the subject matter when planning continue in a similar learning subject.
I am a licensed Social worker with tutoring experience in and out of college. I have the most experience in tutoring Algebra and other math. I have a student now that I am helping with AP English who has dyslexia. I enjoy watching her grammar skills increase and her overall understanding of the concepts develop. A Little Bit About Me...

I am an experienced classroom teacher and have been involved in education since I was 18 years old. I have worked supervising general chemistry teaching labs as well as an organic chemistry TA. I followed this experience by gaining my general education certification through the STEM program at UNM. This involved a year of teaching as an intern at a local middle school. My comments on tutoring Special Education : Have experience with students who have special abilities.

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities.
